About Donte Whitner
Donte Whitner was an NFL safety who was a three-time Pro Bowler. Prior to his time in the NFL, Whitner played collegiately at Ohio State University. With OSU, Whitner was named All-Big Ten in 2005, playing well enough in his time there to be drafted in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. In his rookie season, Whitner recorded his first career interception in a game against the New England Patriots, finishing the season with 104 tackles and one interception. After five decent seasons with Buffalo, Whitner chose to sign with the San Francisco 49ers in 2011, playing three seasons with the team, helping them reach three straight NFC Championship games and an NFC Championship in 2012. Whitner also earned his first two Pro Bowl nods in 2012 and 2013, emerging into one of the league’s top-hitting safeties. Following the 2013 season, Whitner signed with the Cleveland Browns.
