About Dwight Gooden
Dwight Gooden is a retired MLB pitcher who spent 17 seasons in the league with five different teams. Gooden got his start in 1982 after being drafted in the first round by the New York Mets, making his major league debut one year later. For the next 11 seasons, Gooden would go on to become a top pitcher, earning four All Star honors, winning one World Series, winning the NL Cy Young award, and many more prestigious honors. As of today, Gooden still owns multiple pitching records, and was considered one of the most dominant pitchers during his time with the Mets. In 1996, Gooden joined the New York Yankees, pitching there for two years and winning the second of three World Series rings. After stops with the Astros, Devil Rays, and the Yankees, Gooden officially retired from baseball in 2000, posting a career record of 194-112 with a 3.51 ERA and 2,293 strikeouts.
