About Earl Campbell
Earl Campbell is celebrated as one of the most electrifying playmakers in football history, a titan of the college game, and one of the NFL's greatest running backs, nicknamed the "Tyler Rose." Before his professional career, Campbell starred at the University of Texas at Austin (1974–1977), where he won the 1977 Heisman Trophy as the nation's top college football player. In Texas, he rushed for 4,443 yards and 40 touchdowns, showcasing his powerful running style and earning All-American honors. In the NFL, primarily with the Houston Oilers (1978–1984) and later the New Orleans Saints (1984–1985), he amassed 9,407 rushing yards, 806 receiving yards, and 74 touchdowns on 2,187 carries. A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Campbell won three Offensive Player of the Year awards, the 1978 Offensive Rookie of the Year, and the 1979 NFL MVP. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991, his legacy endures to this day.
