About Eddie George
Eddie George came into the national spotlight as a running back at Ohio State University and had one of the greatest college seasons for an RB in 1995 when he ran for a school-record 1,927 yards. In that senior season, George had three games where he ran for over 200 yards, including a school record 314 yards against Illinois.
George finished his career with 3,768 rushing yards, five major collegiate trophies (Heisman, Walter Camp, Maxwell Doak Walker, and Jim Brown), and was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011. George was selected in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft and in his first season with the Houston Oilers (Tennessee Titans) won the NFL's Rookie of the Year honors.
George started as a tailback for the Oilers/Titans for 7 consecutive seasons and became the second player in NFL history (Jim Brown being the first) to rush for 10,000 yards without missing a start. George was selected to four straight Pro Bowls and was named to the 2000 first-team All-Pro team.
George retired following the 2004 season and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He is now the head coach at Bowling Green after starting as the head coach at Tennessee State from 2021-24.
