About Eric Chavez
Eric Chavez began his 16 year MLB career in 1998 for the Oakland A's after being named the Minor League Player of the Year for his play in the A's farm system. Chavez quickly made his way into the starting line-up and from 2001-2006 he earned 6 straight Gold Gloves as the starting 3rd baseman for the A's. Through his first 10 seasons with the club, Chavez proved to be one of their most reliable batters in the lineup, averaging .269 and adding up 726 RBIs. After 13 seasons with the Athletics, Chavez signed a deal as a free agent with the New York Yankees beginning in the 2011 season. Chavez spent a year and a half with the Yankees spending most of his time on the disabled list. Chavez continued to play through injuries when he signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 but in 2014 he stepped away from the game with a career batting average of .268 with 260 home runs.
