About Ernest Givins
Ernest Givins is a former professional American football player who was drafted in 1986 by the Houston Oilers in the second round of the NFL draft. During his time in the NFL, Givins played a total of ten seasons from 1986-1995, and was a two time Pro-Bowl selection in 1990 and 1992. Givens was very well known for his touchdown celebration dance, which is known as the “Electric Glide.” In 1995 Givins played his first and only season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Givins did not have the easiest time in the NFL however, because many people thought he was gay. In this time period, being gay was one of the worst possible things. Givins was interviewed multiple times regarding the issue of being gay and he personally mentioned that being gay was the worst thing that an athlete could do. Other players also accused Givins of hitting on younger receivers of the team, but through it all, Givins continuously said he was straight.
