About Ervin Santana
Ervin Santana is currently a free agent for Major League Baseball. Prior to becoming a free agent, Santana was a starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves and Minnesota-Twins. Santana signed with the Los Angeles Angels in 2000 as an amateur free agent. In May 2005, Santana made his major league debut against the Cleveland Indians. After his second game, Santana went on the disabled list due to an elbow problem that became a recurring problem. On July 27, 2011, Santana pitched his first no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians. In October 2012, Santana was traded to the Kansas City Royals. After the 2012 season, the Royals made a $14.1 million offer to Santana, but he turned it down because he wanted to be a free agent. Due to his rejection of the Royals’ offer, anyone that wanted Santana would have to surrender a draft pick. Santana came close to signing with the Toronto Blue Jays, but when an injury occurred to Kris Medlen from the Atlanta Braves, Santana agreed to terms that were identical to those of the Blue Jays, which was $14.1 million for one year.
