About Frank Reich
Frank Reich made a career out of being one of the best offensive minds in football. After a college career at Maryland, Reich was selected in the third round of the 1985 NFL Draft. He was best known in the league for his long tenure as the backup quarterback for Jim Kelly with the Buffalo Bills.
Reich made the most of his playing opportunities when he got them. In the 1993 playoffs, he rallied the Bills back from down 35-3 to win 41-38 in overtime over the Houston Oilers. The Bills would also start Reich the following week and defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-7 before Jim Kelly returned for the Super Bowl.
The Carolina Panthers subsequently selected Reich in the 1995 expansion draft and he started the first three games in franchise history. Reich also played a season with the New York Jets and two seasons with the Detroit Lions before hanging it up.
Reich began his road in coaching in 2006 as an intern with the Indianapolis Colts. Reich also coached quarterbacks and wide receivers at points with the Colts before moving on to the Arizona Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers. Reich became an offensive coordinator for the first time with the Chargers and won a Super Bowl directing the offense of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The successful turn in Philly led to Reich being named the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. He guided the Colts to two playoff appearances in five seasons. Reich also spent the 2023 season as head coach of the Panthers.
Off the field, Reich is a devout Christian who gives inspirational speeches that emphasize the role God has played in his life.
