About Frankie Edgar
Frankie Edgar is a mixed martial artist who fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Edgar got his start in wrestling during high school where he made it to the New Jersey state championships three times. He placed second as a junior and fifth as a senior. Edgar continued wrestling through his time at Clarion University of Pennsylvania where he qualified for the nationals all four years. Edgar’s first MMA fight occurred after only a few weeks of training outside of his wrestling background. Edgar tried out for season five of The Ultimate Fighter and he was no accepted to be on the show. A month later, Edgar was contacted by the UFC asking him to accept a fight with Tyson Griffin at UFC 67. On February 26, 2014, Edgar faced Brenson Henderson at UFC 144 where he became the new UFC Lightweight Champion. In September 2013, Edgar faced B.J. Penn for the 19th season of The Ultimate Fighter and won the fight by a TKO in the third round.
