Gene Tenace

Gene Tenace was one of the key cogs during the greatest run in Oakland Athletics history. Tenace originally debuted with the A's in 1969 and won three straight World Series titles with them from 1972-74. He most notably became the first person to ever hit two home runs in his first two World Series at-bats. Tenace continued his hot streak in that 1972 Fall Classic, hitting four home runs and adding nine RBI on the way to winning MVP honors. In 1975, he made the All-Star team and finished in the top ten of American League home run hitters the next four seasons. After leaving Oakland in 1977, Tenace continued to be productive during four seasons with the San Diego Padres. He would win another World Series in 1982 after being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. Tenace spent one final season in the big leagues in 1983 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He spent many years following retirement as a coach and won two more World Series while on the Toronto Blue Jays bench.
