About Joe Torre
Joe Torre has been at the forefront of Major League Baseball’s success for the last five decades. During his playing career Torre was a nine-time All-Star, a Gold Glove Award winning catcher, and was named the 1971 National League MVP. After his 17 year playing career ended he took on a new role in the game as a major league manager. From 1977 to 2010 he built one of the most impressive managing resumes in major league history, managing five teams from 1977 to 2010 and leading the New York Yankees to four World Series Championships in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000, earning two American League Manager of the Year Awards along the way.
In between managing stints Torre worked as a color commentator for CBS and ESPN, providing expert analysis during regular season and postseason games. In 2011 he was hired in his current role to serve as the Executive Vice President for Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball. In 2013 Torre returned to the diamond as the Manager of the USA team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Outside of baseball Joe Torre is a dedicated philanthropist, devoting his time to the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation and Joe Torre Foundation while also lending his support to other domestic violence programs throughout the nation.
