George O'Leary

George O’Leary had success as a college head coach at Georgia Tech and UCF.  During O’Leary’s tenure at UCF he has established an atmosphere of discipline both on and off the field.  When he arrived on campus in 2004 he immediately made an impact on the teams academic performance, leading them to a team record GPA of 2.78 in 2004, only to break that record in 2005.  Since that time his players have slowly brought that GPA up to an impressive 3.0.  His formula for success in the classroom combines providing academic services to his players, requiring them attend a 2 hour study hall each night, and also being involved in their academic progress.

On the field O’Leary’s teams have been just as impressive.  So far his UCF teams have captured four Conference USA East Division titles, earning him C-USA Coach of the Year honors in 2005, 2007 and 2010.  In 2013, he led the Knights to an American Athletic Conference title in the league's inaugual year. UCF was selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl and defeated Baylor. O'Leary retired during the 2015 season with an 81-68 career record.
