About Gilbert Yvel
With an overall record of 56-16-1, Dutch MMA fighter Gilbert Yvel was one of the top light heavyweight contenders in the world. He was also one of the most experienced professional MMA fighters in the world, having competed in the PRIDE Fighting Championships, RINGS, M-1 Challenge, Cage Rage, K-1 and the UFC. His championships include the Fighting Network RINGS Openweight Championship and the World Vale Tudo WVC Superfight Championship. Yvel began his career as a heavyweight fighter and then carved up to compete as a light heavyweight in the final two years of his career from 2011 to 2013. The breakdown of his wins includes 31 knockouts and 6 submissions as a heavyweight and 1 knockout as a light heavyweight. Yvel was a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu and trained at Vos Gym in the Netherlands in between fights.
