Greg Schiano

Greg Schiano grew up loving the sport of football. In 1988 he turned his love of the sport into a coaching career and began his rise to the top. After serving as an assistant coach at Ramapo High School he joined the Rutgers staff in 1989 as a graduate assistant and then moved to Penn State, where he served as a defensive backs coach from 1991 to 1995. At Penn State he earned an enormous amount of credibility and in 1996 he made the move to the big time, landing a spot on the Chicago Bears staff. In 1999 he took a job at the University of Miami as their defensive coordinator and made waves in the college football world with an incredible stint in Coral Cables, setting up his hire as the head coach at Rutgers in 2001. While at Rutgers he led the Scarlet Knights to unprecedented success and their first 10 win season in school history in 2006. In 2012 he achieved his ultimate goal of becoming a head coach in the NFL when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tapped him to lead their franchise. He remained with the Bucs until the end of the 2013 season.  Schiano went back to the college game as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Ohio State from 2016-18. He is currently back at his most successful stop as the head coach of the Scarlet Knights.
