About Helen Maroulis
Helen Maroulis made history at the 2016 Olympics. She became the first American woman to ever win gold in wrestling when she wonthe 53 kg weight class. Maroulis defeated the three-time defending Olympic champion fromJapan,Saori Yoshida, 4-1 in the final. Maroulis is also a three-time medalist in thte 55 kg division at the World Championships. She picked up gold in 2015, silver in 2012 and bronze in 2014. Maroulis was a three-time Junior World medalist as well. She is a six-time U.S. Open Cup champion and won the World Cup in 2013 and 2015.
