Horace Copeland

Horace Copeland is a retired NFL wide receiver who played seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Miami Dolphins, and the Oakland Raiders. Prior to his time in the NFL, Copeland played for the University of Miami Hurricanes, where he won two national championships while recording 84 receptions for 1,424 yards in four seasons. His accolades in football as well as in track and field earned Copeland a spot in the University of Miami Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001. After his graduation from Miami, Copeland entered the 1993 NFL Draft and was drafted in the fourth round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Copeland’s first stint with the Bucs lasted four seasons, and he joined his hometown Miami Dolphins for the 1998 season, leaving halfway through the season to return to the Bucs. Copeland finished his career in 1999 as an Oakland Raider, and he ended with 115 receptions for 1,977 yards and seven touchdowns. Although he had a lackluster NFL career, Copeland will forever be remembered for his backflip touchdown celebration, making him a fan favorite for his entire career.
