About Jack McKeon
Jack McKeon, born in New Jersey in 1930, is most famously known as a retired Major League Baseball manager. As a former player himself, McKeon has spent close to eighty years surrounded by the game of baseball. As a catcher, he played in college for Holy Cross and spent several years after college in the minor leagues. As a manager, the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, and Florida Marlins were all led to success under his ownership. Taking a couple years off here and there, McKeon ultimately managed professional baseball teams in the major leagues from 1973 to 2011. He was named the National League Manager of the Year in both 1999 and 2003. At the age of 72, he became the oldest manager to win a World Series championship when the Florida Marlins beat the New York Yankees in 2003. McKeon also has an impressive history in wrestling, as he went on to become the captain of the wrestling team at Duke University throughout his early years. Although a retired manager, he is a devout Catholic, author of two books, and inspiration to all those who know him.
