About Jacques Demers
Jacques Demers, a Canadian native, is a senator and former head hockey coach. Born in1944 in Montreal, Quebec, Demers has been nicknamed “The Honorable” for all that he has made of himself in the seventy plus years he has been living. First acting as a coach in the World Hockey Association (WHA) for a few years, Demers later became an NHL coach for many, shaping the young lives of the countless number of athletes he coached between his time spent with the Quebec Nordiques, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadians and Tampa Bay Lightning. Demers was recognized as the NHL Coach of the Year two consecutive years while he was awarded with the Jack Adams Awards. Not surprising to any of those who know him, he was named the 100th most influential personality in hockey in 2007 and went on to become an influential personality in politics, as well. Demers currently represents the Conservative Party in the Senate after being nominated in 2009 to fill the Canadian Senate seat. Already having accomplished so much throughout his life time, Demers continues to inspire all those around him.
