Jahvid Best

Jahvid Best was a former professional football player. Although he only spent two years in the NFL playing running back for the Detroit Lions, he certainly lived up to his last name while setting many records throughout his football career. Best was born in 1989 in Vallejo, California and excelled tremendously in both track and field and football throughout high school. He has always been known for pushing through and fighting through injuries, as he won the 100 meter dash in high school with an outstanding time of 10.36 seconds with an injured foot. Turning down offers from a handful of prestigious colleges, Best chose to attend the University of California, Berkeley and play for the Golden Bears football team. Best set numerous records during his collegiate career, including the school’s record for the most rushing yards in a single game, the most all purpose yards in a single season, the most rushing touchdowns in a single game and the Emerald Bowl rushing yards record in 2008. Best was then scooped up in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Lions but was ultimately released three seasons later due to health problems.
