About Jason Grilli
Jason Grilli had a standout 17 major league career as a starter and relief pitcher. After over a decade in baseball, Grilli’s career really took off with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011. He became the Pirates’ closer in 2013 and made his first All-Star team. That season, Grilli saved 33 games in 35 opportunities and finished with a 2.40 ERA while racking up 74 strikeouts in 50 innings. The Pirates also made their first postseason appearance since 1992 in 2013. The San Francisco Giants originally selected him fourth overall in the 1997 MLB Draft. Grilli came up with the Florida Marlins in 2000 and was a starter initially in his pro baseball career. He also pitched for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic since he is of Italian heritage. Grilli was ready for life after baseball even before his 2017 retirement, owning and operating a company called Pitch Perfect Marketing.
