J.D. Brookhart

JD Brookhart is a former American football college coach. As a former player himself, Brookhart has been around the sport his whole life, which started in Pueblo, Colorado in 1964. He attended Brigham Young University for his freshmen year of college and Colorado State for the remaining three years. At Colorado State, Brookhart was a three-year starter as the wide receiver. He even signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 1988 only to be released the same year. However, Brookhart could not get away from the sport. He commenced his coaching career in 1995 accepting an assistant position for the Denver Broncos. He then worked with the Pittsburgh Panthers at the University of Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2003, carrying out numerous positions and leading the team to success. In 2004, Brookhart became the 25th head coach at the University of Akron. He led the Zips to their first bowl game in school history. After six seasons with Akron, Brookhart went on to aid the Colorad0 Buffaloes at the University of Colorado Boulder. One of the highlights of his coaching career was receiving the MAC Coach of the Year award in 2004.
