Jim Kyte Biography

Jim Kyte was the first legally deaf player in NHL history.  He played in 598 games for five different franchises.  Kyte was originally the 12th overall pick of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. He played parts of his first seven seasons with the Jets.  Kyte also saw time with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators and San Jose Sharks.  After retiring from hockey following the 1997 season, he has gone on to a successful career in academics.  He joined the faculty at Algonquin College in 2002.  Kyte created the school's Sports Business Management program.  Since 2014, he has been the Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism.
