About Jim Riggleman
Jim Riggleman has managed nearly 1,500 major league games during time spent with the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, and Washington Nationals. Riggleman is currently the bench coach for the New York Mets. He originally got his start managing single-A and double-A teams for the St. Louis Cardinals. Prior to accepting the Padres managerial job in 1992, he was the manager for their Triple-A team as well. The 1998 Cubs team he managed earned a wild card spot in the National League. Throughout his career, he has also served as a bench coach for several major league teams. Before his current position with the Mets, Riggleman went back to his roots as a minor league manager for Cincinnati’s double-A and triple-A affiliates. As a player, he was a career minor leaguer, spending time in the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cardinals organizations. The Dodgers drafted Riggleman out of Frostburg State University in 1974.
