About Joe Kines
Joe Kines earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Jacksonville State University and began his college-coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater in 1976. From 1977 to 1986 he served as the linebackers coach and defensive coordinator at Clemson, Florida and Alabama before heading to the NFL as the linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 1991 he returned to the college game as the defensive coordinator at Arkansas and eventually served as the interim head coach and assistant head coach for the Razorbacks until joining the University of Georgia coaching staff as assistant coach and defensive coordinator in 1995. After four years at UGA he served as the linebacker’s coach at FSU and defensive coordinator at Alabama from 2000 to 2006 before being named interim head coach for the Crimson Tide in 2006. In 2009 he retired from coaching as the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
