About Joe Mauer
Joe Mauer is a former American professional baseball catcher, designated hitter, and first baseman who spent a 15-year Major League Baseball career for the Minnesota Twins. He is the only catcher in MLB history to win three batting titles, and the only catcher to ever win a batting title in the American League. He also won three consecutive Gold Glove Awards (2008–2010), and the 2009 American League Most Valuable Player Award. Mauer holds the MLB single-season records for the highest single-season batting average for catchers (.365), which he set in 2009 and the highest single-season on-base percentage for a catcher (.444), which he also set in 2009. Mauer is also the first AL catcher to win a batting title and holds the record for the most batting titles by a catcher in a career (3).
