Johnny Knox joined the Chicago Bears as a fifth round pick in 2009 out of Abilene Christian University. A native of Channelview, Texas, he signed to play at Tyler Junior College out of high school and led all junior college wide receivers with 884 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2006. The following year he transferred to Abilene Christian and earned honorable mention All-American honors after catching 62 passes for 1,158 yards and a school record 17 touchdowns. As a senior in 2008 he caught 56 passes for 1,069 yards and 13 touchdowns, again earning All-American honors and breaking the Abilene Christian all-time touchdown receptions record with 30. At the 2009 NFL Combine he impressed with an astonishing 4.34 40-yard dash, exceptional ball skills and a savvy ability for route running that caught the eye of NFL scouts. Upon joining the Bears as a rookie in 2009 he caught 45 passes for 527 yards and five touchdowns while also serving as a special teams player. His performance earned him special teams player of the month in October 2009 and a Pro Bowl selection. During his second season in 2010 he led the Bears with 51 receptions, 960 receiving yards and five touchdowns, and again led the Bears in receiving in 2011 with 727 yards. Knox retired from the NFL in 2013 due to a back injury he suffered in 2011, which he has recovered from. Currently he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
