About Katie Schumacher-Cawley
Katie Schumacher-Cawley is the head coach of Penn State’s women’s volleyball team. A former Penn State player (1993–96), she helped win the 1993 Big Ten title. After playing professionally in Europe, she began coaching, joining Penn State as head coach in 2022 after Russ Rose’s retirement. Schumacher-Cawley led the Nittany Lions to a 27–6 record in 2024, reaching the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen. Her strategic game planning and player development skills earned her Big Ten Coach of the Year honors. Known for fostering team unity, she emphasizes resilience and discipline.
