About Kevin Appier
Kevin Appier was the ace for the Kansas City Royals for over a decade and is a member of the team’s Hall of Fame. The Royals originally selected him ninth overall in the 1987 MLB Draft. Appier was a one-time All-Star in 1995. In 1993, he went 18-8 with a 2.56 ERA and finished third in the Cy Young Award voting. Appier won over 15 games five times in his career. He finally made his first postseason appearance when he was traded to the Oakland Athletics and won a World Series with the Anaheim Angels in 2002. Appier finished his career 169-137 with a 3.74 ERA.
