About Lara Gut
Lara Gut is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all five disciplines and she specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G. At 15 years old, Gut participated in her first FIS races. In 2007, Gut won silver in downhill at the Alpine Youth World Championship. That same year, Gut became the Swiss national champion in super-G, and she finished second in the downhill standings of the Europa Cup. Gut made her World Cup debut on December 28, 2007 in a giant slalom. In January 2008, Gut won four consecutive Europa Cup races. In 2008, Gut became the youngest skier to win a World Cup super-G race. At the 2009 World Championships, Gut won silver medals in the downhill and the super combined. On December 14, 2012, Gut won her first World Cup downhill and on February 12, 2014, she won her first Olympic medal in the downhill race in Sochi.
