About Larry Mize
Larry Mize is a professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and currently plays on the Champions Tour. Mize attended college at Georgia Tech and turned professional in 1980. From 1982-2001, Mize finished in the top 125 on the money list. He won his first PGA Tour during the 1983 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic. The 1987 Masters was very memorable for Mize. After four rounds he was tied with Steve Ballesteros and Greg Norman. Ballesteros was eliminated in the first hole of the playoff, and on the second playoff hole, Mize needed a birdie to win, which was nearly impossible. On his third shot, Mize hit an incredible shot that ended in him making a birdie. Mize’s Masters win was very close to his heart as it was held in Augusta where he is from and he worked on the scoreboard at Augusta’s National third hole as a teenager. Mize’s Masters win and tie for fourth at the U.S. Open briefly placed him in the top-10 Official World Golf Ranking. He has also won 3 Japan Golf Tours and 1 Champions Tour.
