About LaVar Arrington
LaVar Arrington is a former NFL linebacker, College Football Hall of Fame inductee (2022), and current sports broadcaster. Hailing from Pittsburgh, he became a standout at Penn State (1997-1999), earned the Butkus and Bednarik Awards in 1999, was a unanimous All-American, and finished ninth in Heisman voting. His signature âLaVar Leapâ tackle against Illinois became iconic.
Selected second overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2000 NFL Draft, he played seven seasons (2000-2006) with the Redskins and New York Giants, earning three Pro Bowl selections and recording 23.5 sacks over 85 games. His career ended after a serious motorcycle accident in 2007, which caused multiple injuries and led to his retirement.
Post-NFL, Arrington transitioned to media, hosting âSportsWeek with LaVar Arringtonâ on DC50, co-hosting the âUp On Gameâ podcast on Fox Sports Radio, and working as a football analyst on FS1âs âSpeak For Yourselfâ since 2019. He founded Xtreme Procision (XP) in 2010, a football training system for youth athletes.
