About Lee Roy Jordan
Lee RoyJordan was a first round selection by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1963 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. Jordan signed with Alabama after a stellar career at Excel High School in Excel, Alabama, where he starred as a fullback. When he arrived at Alabama he made the transition to linebacker and center and helped the Crimson Tide to a National Championship in 1961. During his collegiate career he became one of the best players in history, and earned induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1980 and College Football Hall of Fame in 1983. In 1963 he joined the Cowboys in the National Football League, and would go on to continue his success at the professional level. During his 13-year career in Dallas he was named to the Pro Bowl five times, earned NFL All-Pro honors in 1969 and 1973 and was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1973. In 1972 he helped the Cowboys to a win in Super Bowl VI, reaching the pinnacle of the sport. Jordan retired in 1976 with 36 interceptions and three touchdowns, and was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 1989.
