About Maddie Rooney
Maddie Rooney is a goaltender for the United States women's national hockey team. She helped the team win the 2017 IIHF World Championship as a backup. Rooney stepped up into a starting role during the 2018 Olympics. She started every game except one in the tournament as Team USA captured gold. Rooney stopped Canada's Meghan Acosta in the final round of a shootout to win the gold. It was the U.S.'s first gold in women's hockey in 20 years. Rooney plays college hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
