About Makhi Hughes
Makhi Hughes is an American running back for the Oregon Ducks. A standout at Huffman High School, he recorded over 2,700 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. Initially committed to Appalachian State, Hughes switched to Tulane University. At Tulane, he redshirted his 2022 freshman season due to injury. In 2023, as a redshirt freshman, he emerged as Tulane's starting running back, rushing for 1,378 yards and seven touchdowns. His performance earned him the AAC Rookie of the Year and freshman All-American honors. In 2024, he continued to excel, contributing significantly to Tulane's offense. Hughes transferred to Oregon in January 2025 to compete in the Big Ten Conference. Known for his powerful running style and vision, Hughes is considered a rising star with NFL potential.
