About Manon Rheaume
Manon Rheaume made history in 1992 when she signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rheaume appeared in net for the franchise during exhibition games in 1992 and 1993, making her the first woman to play in the NHL and the first woman to play in any of the four major North American sports leagues. Overall, she spent five years in professional hockey, playing for seven different minor league teams. Rheaume also suited up for the Canadian women's national team, winning two World Championships and a silver medal at the 1998 Olympics. Since retiring, she has been active in business and coaching. Rheaume was also hired as an analyst and reporter for the Detroit Red Wings by Bally Sports Michigan in 2021.
