About Marcus Gilchrist
Marcus Gilchrist has played his entire NFL career for the San Diego Chargers after being a second round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Gilchrist has played all over the secondary, starting at safety and serving as the Chargers nickel back. In 2013, he started his first season at safety and recorded a career high 84 tackles. Gilchrist played collegiately at Clemson. He tied a Tigers record with 53 career starts. Gilchrist is originally from High Point, North Carolina and was an All-American player at Andrews High School. A football field was not the only place he starred. Gilchrist also was conference player of the year in basketball as a senior and a member of the 4x200 meter state champion team. His father Ronny, a former U.S. Marine, kept Gilchrist in line from an early age. That discipline likely went a long way in charting his son’s successful pro career.
