About Mark Phelps
Mark Phelps is an American basketball coach with a coaching history at several colleges. Currently serving as the assistant coach for the Marquette Golden Eagles men’s basketball team at Marquette University in Wisconsin, he was originally born in Ohio in 1966 and raised in Virginia, where he attended high school and graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in physical education in 1996. Kicking off his coaching career with North Carolina State that same year, Phelps served as an assistant coach for the NCAA Division I team for ten years. He then moved on to Arizona State, where he coached the Sun Devil’s men’s basketball team as an assistant for two years. In 2008, Phelps received his most prestigious position to date when he was named the 25th head coach at Drake University, where he had already received more victories in his first four years with the team than any other Drake coach. Phelps has since served as the assistant coach for the Missouri Tiger’s men’s basketball team and currently coaches the Golden Eagles at Marquette.
