About Marwin Gonzalez
Marwin Gonzalez has been one of the most versatile players since arriving in the major leagues with the Houston Astros in 2012. He has played every position on the field except catcher and pitcher. Gonzalez had a breakout campaign in 2017, hitting over .300 with 23 home runs and 87 RBI. The Houston Astros also won the American League West Division that season. Gonzalez has the unique distinction of setting a major league record by hitting his first 25 home runs with no one on base. He is also known for breaking up a Yu Darvish perfect game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in a 2013 game against the Texas Rangers. The Chicago Cubs originally signed Gonzalez as an international free agent in 2005. The Boston Red Sox selected him in the 2011 Rule 5 Draft and subsequently traded him to the Astros.
