About Matt Campbell
Matt Campbell is the head football coach at Penn State. Campbell orchestrated a tremendous run as the coach at Iowa State from 2016-2025. Iowa State. He led the Cyclones to a 72-55 record and was named Big 12 Coach of the Year three times.
Campbell got his first opportunity to be a head coach at Toledo in 2011. After serving as offensive coordinator for twoyears, he got promoted on an interim basis. At 32 years old, he was the youngest head coach at the time in the FBS ranks. In four full seasons at the helm of the Rockets, he won nine games three times. In 2014 and 2015, Toledo won the Mid-American Conference West Division. Campbell was named MAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
Before arriving at Toledo, he spent two seasons as a coach at Bowling Green and a pair of years at his alma mater, Mount Union as well. He began his journey in coaching as a graduate assistant at BGSU from 2003-04. While Cambpell was a defensive lineman at Mount Union, the team won three Division III National Championships. He was a two-time College Football All-American and won the Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year award.
