About Mike Babcock
Mike Babcock is currently with the Columbus Blue Jackets and one of the most successful coaches in the NHL today. Babcock played his collegiate hockey at McGill University, where he served as his team’s captain. After earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees in sports psychology from McGill he began a successful coaching career in the United Kingdom as a player-coach with the Whitley Warriors. In 1991 he returned to the United States as the head coach of the Moose Jaw Warriors in the WHL and went on to coach for the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL before joining the Cincinnati Might Ducks in the AHL. In 2002 he was hired as the head coach of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, leading them to the Stanley Cup Final in his first season. Babcock subsequently became the winningest head coach in Detroit Red Wings history and made ten straight playoff appearances. He won the Cup with Detroit in 2008. Babcock took over the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2015-19, guiding them to four postseason trips.
