About Mike Boddicker
Mike Boddicker played 14 seasons in the major leagues with the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers. Boddicker is a Cedar Rapids, Iowa native and got his start in professional baseball after being selected in the 6th round of the 1978 MLB First Year Player Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. After just two seasons in the minor leagues he made his MLB debut in Baltimore and went on to become a front line starter for the Orioles for nine seasons. In 1984 he earned his first All-Star selection while winning a career high 20 games and posting a sparkling 2.79 ERA. That performance followed a 1983 season in which he posted a career low 2.77 ERA and five shutouts in route to helping lead the Orioles to a World Series title. During that post season he was named the ALCS MVP. He’d go on to earn a Gold Glove Award while playing with the Boston Red Sox in 1990 and saw a brief stint with the Kansas City Royals before retiring with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1993.
