About Mikey Romero
The Boston Red Sox organization has Mikey Romero as a promising shortstop who demonstrates excellent hitting abilities and defensive capabilities. The January 12, 2004 birthdate of Romero in San Diego California led him to attend Orange Lutheran High School where he gained selection to the 2021 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
The Red Sox selected Romero with their first-round draft choice (24th overall) in 2022 before he signed for $2.3 million to start his professional career with the Florida Complex League Red Sox. After joining the minor league system Romero moved up the ranks to play for the Salem Red Sox and Greenville Drive while showing excellent plate vision and defensive capabilities.
The July 2024 performance of Romero led to his selection as South Atlantic League Player of the Month and he received the Comeback Player of the Year award from SoxProspects.com. The Portland Sea Dogs which serves as the Double-A affiliate of the Red Sox continue to develop Romero as he stands out as a vital component of the team's future infield plans for 2025.
The athletic family of Romero includes his sisters Sierra and Sydney who achieved success in softball at the University of Michigan and the University of Oklahoma respectively.
