About Neil Lomax
Neil Lomax is a former American football quarterback. Lomax attended Portland State University from 1977-1980 where he went from a fifth-string freshman quarterback to emergency starter to NCAA legend. At the end of his career he held 90 NCAA records, including one game where he threw 7 touchdowns in the first quarter. The St. Louis Cardinals selected Lomax as the fifth overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. Lomax had an up-and-down 9-year career for the Cardinals. He was a 2x Pro Bowl selection in 1984, and 1987. Lomax was forced to retire before the 1990 season due to a continuous leg problem that was later diagnosed as a severely arthritic hip. The following year, he underwent hip replacement surgery. After his football career ended, Lomax became the president of ProMax Event Management and he is an avid golfer. Lomax was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
