About Pat Garrity
From Pat Garrity's time at Notre Dame, people knew he was destined for big things in basketball. Garrity was a double-digit scorer in all four years with the Fighting Irish. He was a three-time All-Big East selection that averaged 23.2 points per game as a senior. That year he was named the Big East Player of the Year and a consensus second-team All-American. Garrity also excelled in the classroom, earning two Academic All-American selections and the Academic All-American of the Year in 1998.
Garrity was subsequently selected in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. He spent one year with the Suns, before truly blossoming after a trade to the Orlando Magic. Garrity would spend the next nine seasons with the Magic, earning respect as one of the league's more dangerous three-point shooters.
After retirement, Garrity went into the investment world with Bridgewater Associates. Then he was lured back to the NBA as director of strategic planning for the Detroit Pistons. In 2016, he was promoted to the Pistons assistant general manager.
