About Paul MacLean
Paul MacLean is an NHL head coach, currently serving as head coach of the Ottawa Senators. Beforecoaching, MacLean was a successful player in the NHL, originally being drafted by the St. Louis Blues,then traded to the Winnipeg Jets. MacLean would go onto score 36 goals his rookie season, enjoyinggreat success with the team up until being traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 1988.After one season inDetroit, MacLean would return to the Blues to finish his career, scoring a total of 673 points in 719games. Following his retirement from playing, MacLean became a head coach of a minor league team,then served as an assistant coachwith the Phoenix Coyotes. After bouncing back and forth from the IHL,UHL, and NHL as an assistant coach, MacLean washired as the head coach of the Ottawa Senators in2011, winning the coach of the year award in 2012, and signing a three year contract extension in 2014to reward him for his success.
