About Pete Alonso
Pete Alonso is a first baseman for the Baltimore Orioles. When he joined the New York Mets in 2019, Alonso immediately became an offensive force. He was the first player in baseball history to notch 11 extra-base hits in his first ten games. That stellar start earned him National League Rookie of the Month honors in April 2019. His nine home runs before May 1 tied a Mets team record. Alonso's home run power once getting the call-up to New York was no surprise. The previous season he led the minor leagues by hitting 36 homers in his time split between Double-A Binghampton and Triple-A Las Vegas. That year, Alonso was also selected to participate in the All-Star Futures Game. The Mets originally selected him out of the University of Florida in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Alonso was an All-SEC performer for the Gators and helped them reach the 2016 College World Series.
