Quincy Carter

Quincy Carter is a former NFL quarterback and minor league baseball player whose off-the-field issues with substance abuse cut his athletic career short, but now uses his experience as a platform to advise youth. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he went on to the University of Georgia, where he led the Bulldogs to a 23-8 record as a starter. He was drafted in the second round by the Dallas Cowboys, where he played for three seasons and led them to a 10-6 record and a playoff appearance in 2003. He also played briefly with the New York Jets before joining several rosters in the Arena Football League. His NFL stats include 6,337 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 38 games played.

Carter faced significant challenges with addiction, starting with marijuana use at age 17, which lingered into his professional career with a failed drug test and release from the Cowboys organization. He faced several legal issues, including possession, DWI, and had several stints in rehab. With support from former Dallas linebacker Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson and Alcoholics Anonymous, Carter achieved sobriety. He now lives in Georgia, where he coaches high school athletes and mentors youth through the Quincy Carter Foundation, advocating for drug-free environments and supporting recovery.
