About Randy Couture
After serving in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1988 Randy Couture decided to take his life in a different direction. He took up mixed martial arts and eventually made his debut in the UFC in May of 1997. Randy became known as a clinch and ground-and-pound fighter who used his wrestling ability to execute take downs, and successfully strike his opponents. During his time with the UFC Randy became a tournament winner, a two time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and a three time UFC Heavyweight Champion. After competing in a record 15 title fights Couture became the first fighter to hold two UFC Championship titles in two different divisions. After retiring Couture became a regular broadcaster for UFC events and has become the fourth member of the UFC Hall of Fame. Among other accolades, Randy has had the most championship reigns in UFC history, as well as being the oldest fighter to win a title in UFC history at the age of 43.
