About Ray Lankford
Ray Lankford is a former Major League Baseball player that was known for his combination of speed, power, and defensive prowess as an outfielder. He made his debut in 1990 for the Cardinals and quickly took over a starting position at center field. His speed and discipline made him a potent force at the plate early on in his career as a leadoff man. In his first full season he led the league with 15 triples, 44 stolen bases, and scored 83 runs. Lankford is regarded as one of the most impressive Cardinals in team history and ranks in the top 10 of statistical categories including home runs, stolen bases, runs scored, RBIs, and bases on balls for the red birds. At Busch Stadium Ray hit the most home runs of any player, and remains the only Cardinal to have 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases in his career.
