About Ray Tanner
Following a very successful career as a college baseball coach, Ray Tanner has kept his masterful touch as the athletic director at South Carolina. Tanner took the AD job in July 2012 and has piloted the Gamecocks programs to success. The entire USC athletic department has seen the same kind of excellence that he employed during 16 seasons as the head baseball coach. Tanner's clubs went to six College World Series and won back-to-back championships in 2010 and 2011. He was a three-time National Coach of the Year and SEC Coach of the Year. The Gamecocks made 13 straight NCAA Tournament appearances under Tanner. Overall, he finished his head coaching career 1133-489-3. Prior to arriving in Columbia, Tanner spent nine seasons at NC State. The Wolfpark saw seven NCAA Tournament appearances in that span. Tanner also played at NC State and spent eight seasons as an assistant coach in Raleigh.
